19-month-old dead after accidentally being hit by mother’s vehicle, coroner says

GRAY, Georgia — A 19-month-old is dead after being hit by one of his parents’ vehicles in Gray, according to Jones County Coroner Matthew Jarratt.

Jarratt said that, early Thursday afternoon around 12:40 p.m., 1-year-old Carson James Evans was playing outside with one of his parents at the Clinton Crossing neighborhood in Gray.

Jarratt said that, as Evans’ mother was pulling into the driveway the child got into the path of the vehicle. He said that the child was hit and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner said there are no charges and that it was a complete accident. He said there wasn’t anything the mother could’ve done, as Evans was completely out of her line of sight and ran in front of the vehicle at the last second.

This is a developing story. We will provide further updates as we receive them.
